Northern lights dancing over a Tromsø fjord

Expert Guides.
Unforgettable Skies.

Small group or big bus aurora tours from Tromsø — an experience for life, guided by people who love the hunt and northern lights as much as you will.

Why Snow Travels

It's not just the aurora. It's the whole experience.

Built around the kind of night you'd plan for your own best friends — small, warm, and made to chase the sky.

just us

Small group, big freedom

Traveling by minibus keeps things cozy and lets us stay flexible on the road — chasing remote, off-the-map corners of Arctic Norway most tours never reach.

stay toasty

Warm & fed

Insulated whole-body suits keep the cold out. Around the bonfire we serve hotdogs, hot drinks and Norwegian snacks — vegetarian or special diet? Just let us know.

we've got you

Photos included

Your guide shoots photos all evening and shares them with you afterwards, free of charge. We bring extra tripods too, and drop you back at your hotel in the city centre when the night is done.

FAQ

The honest answers.

The questions we get asked every day — answered straight.

01What are the chances of seeing the northern lights?

Our aurora success rate is 98,10% verified over the last 3 years. This is one of the highest in Tromsø. We achieve this by following real-time aurora forecasts, chasing clear skies across the region — and if needed, crossing into Finland. The main enemy is clouds, not aurora activity. Tromsø has many microclimates, so clear sky is almost always findable within a 1–3 hour drive.

02When is the best time to see the northern lights?

The northern lights season in Tromsø runs from early September to early April. You need darkness to see them, which means they're not visible in summer. Peak season is late september–mars when nights are longest and aurora activity tends to be highest. We recommend staying at least 3-4 nights to maximise your chances.

03Where do we meet?

Your guide will meet you and greet you welcome at Scandic Ishavshotel in the city centre.

04What clothing do you provide?

We provide a full Arctic thermal suit (outer layer) for all guests on both minibus tours. This keeps you warm in temperatures down to –20°C. We do not provide boots or footwear — please bring your own warm, waterproof shoes or boots. Wool socks are strongly recommended.

05What is the cancellation policy?

Free cancellation up to 24 hours before departure for a full refund. Cancellations within 24 hours are non-refundable. If we cancel due to extreme weather or safety concerns, you receive a full refund or free reschedule.
